Machine Solutions Run for CHC benefits chronically ill and disabled children       For almost 30 years, runners and walkers have enjoyed Flagstaff’s fresh air, pines and high altitude while helping to support the medical needs of children by participating in the Machine Solutions Run for CHC. The annual fund-raiser, which benefits the Children’s Health Center (CHC) at Flagstaff Medical Center, draws participants of all ages and ability. CHC provides specialty pediatric outpatient clinics and healthcare for Northern Arizona children with disabilities or chronic illnesses.
This year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 2, offers a 5K and 10K trail run or a 2K family fitness walk/run along Soldiers Trail at the Fort Tuthill County Fairgrounds, located just two miles south of Flagstaff on I-17, exit 337. Soldiers Trail winds through pines and over unique mountain terrain. A free 100-yard Kids’ Fun Dash will be offered for children 7 and under after the race. The event is the fourth run in the annual Flagstaff Summer Running Series.
Early registration fees (before July 21) for the 5K and 10K runs and up to four family members for the 2K family fitness walk/run are $30-$35. Day-of registration fees are $35-$40. Registration is from 7-7:45 a.m. at the Posse Ramada, with the races beginning at 8 a.m. All participants will receive a T-shirt. Awards will be given to the overall men’s and women’s winners in both the 5K and 10K runs, and the top three winners in each age category in the 5K and 10K runs.
      To pre-register before 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, visit active.com or call 928 773-2093.
